Unemployment in Nigeria is at an all-time high. According to statistics, In 2021, the unemployment rate in Nigeria is estimated to reach 32.5 percent. This means that for every 100 people, about 33 people are jobless. This is an alarming statistic; that almost a quarter of the population of hard-working Nigerian youths would finish school and job search for years- not because they are not qualified, but because, the necessary infrastructure has not been put in place to equip us.
Even when we do decide to finally start businesses, the government and the economy are structured to ardently work against you. Despite all these odds, I strongly believe that Nigeria is fertile ground; filled with opportunities and untapped resources- which is why wealth here, is concentrated in the hands of the few people that have been able to hack the system.
Sectors like Information technology, agriculture, waste and sanitation management, alternative energy for homes, and so on, are yet to be explored. The secret is research. Research, research, and research until you figure out a sector that you would love to explore and add value to.
